We’ve had two author visits already this month!

The lovely Catherine Bruton came first, signing and dedicating copies of her books, No Ballet Shoes in Syria, Following Frankenstein and Another Twist in the Tale. It was such a pleasure to meet her and to talk to her about engaging children in reading, something you know we’re passionate about!

We had a visit from AJ West next (nicest guy ever!), stopping off to see us on his month-long Bookshop Tour, promoting his debut novel The Spirit Engineer. It was so obvious that he’s thrilled at the reception his book has had and brilliant to see him chatting to our customers and dedicating books to them. He seemed genuinely touched that people made the trip to come and see him. It’s one of our favorite parts of bookselling, being the place that brings authors together with their readers!

The next thing we had to do was find the answer to the hardest question of the year so far… what date is it acceptable to dress the window for Christmas?? Is the 6th Nov too early? But Bonfire night is out of the way by then so surely it’s fine?
In the end we left it an extra week then couldn’t wait any longer so it went up on the 11th.
You would not believe how much patience, precarious stacking and cups of coffee went into making that book tree but it was definitely worth it, we are so pleased with how it turned out!

If you’re fully in the Christmas zone too, you can view our catalogue here: https://b2l.bz/kakciC just drop us an email, phone us or come in to the shop to place your orders.
